About the Author
Lance Parkin is a British author, best known for writing fiction and reference books for television series, in particular some of the most influential Doctor Who novels (Father Time, The Gallifrey Chronicles, etc.). He also worked on the Emmerdale television series as a production assistant. Lars Pearson has served as editor-in-chief and publisher of Mad Norwegian Press since 2001, overseeing such works as the Hugo Award-winning Chicks Dig... essay book series and the (to date) eight-volume About Time series, a seminal work on Doctor Who. With Lance Parkin, he co-writes the definitive Doctor Who timeline Ahistory (now 30,000 words bigger than War and Peace). For three years, he was a staff editor at Wizard Entertainment, working on such magazines as InQuest Gamer, ToyFare and Wizard.

A series of books that is out of date before it even is released, as it attempts to create an ordered chronology for an ongoing series based on Time Travel. It is a tremendous undertaking, since at any given moment (see: Time Travel) new entries would be available based on the TV show, books, comics, and of course audio releases from Big Finish to name a few. If you are a fan who follows more than just the TV series, you may want to consider getting these books as it will give you a good bird's eye view of the series - which in itself is just scratching the surface.This Fourth Edition has been broken up into three volumes. The first volume is out as of November 2018, with the second and third volumes to be following shortly. Interestingly enough, the Table of Contents for volume 1 lists the entries for volumes two and three, so this allows one a glimpse at the upcoming releases. I will definitely be getting the next two volumes when they are available.So far as Volume 1 goes, it covers "Pre-History" to 1962, and is pretty much what you are expecting - Many Many Many Entries gathered together into a chronological listing. I will try to include a sample picture of one of the pages.Contents 29-ish pages: Complete Table of Contents 326-ish pages: Entries (Many Many Many Entries) 15-ish pages: Dorian Gray 4-ish pages: Appendix 4-ish pages: None of the Above (shows and such that Had No Date) 52-ish pages: Complete IndexNote: The TOC and Index cover all three volumes, and to make it easier to find a particular entry they number the pages as 1xxx for Vol1, 2xxx for Vol2, and 3xxx for Vol3. Specific years are referenced at the top corner of each page, so to find out what happened around the year 1889, just flip the pages till you get to.. ..1889.
I love this book, I didn't know what to expect from the description. But once I gpt it and browsed through it i was stunned and awed by the information it gathers. It is a very detailed timeline of the Doctor Who universe and includes information from all things Doctor Who including books and comics, i will be getting the other books in the set.
What can I say about AHISTORY that I haven't already said about previous editions?At the very least, a three-volume set is easier to manage than the oversized third edition. It was a practical matter: the first volume of the fourth edition is already more than half the width of the third edition, and there are two volumes to go.If you're a fan of Doctor Who &c, and a geek who enjoys a HEAVILY-documented stitching together of the disparate and sometimes contradictory events, then it's definitely the book(s) for you.One thing that I appreciate is that the table of contents and index are designed to make finding entries simple. All the pages in this volume are numbered from 1001 - 1349 (excluding TOC and index); pages in volume two will be numbered 2nnn, and volume three 3nnn.It's a book that I'll be browsing for months before I feel like I've really explored it. What I'm looking forward to most are the 32 short essays (Footnote Features) on a variety of timeline topics: "The Fall/s of Atlantis", "The Creation of the Cybermen", and many more.Ultimately, highly recommended if you're the sort to enjoy this sort of thing.If you've questions about it then ask away!
