This book is insightful and very helpful in learning about information security and the processes involved in the field of study.

The book is very detailed. So, if you are wondering about some computer security issue, you can more than likely find it in this book. Its a complete book and I would recommend it.
I am using this book to teach a survey of computer security at UW Bothell, and strongly recommend it. It is extremely well organized, and the authors definitely know the material. The organization of the book has helped me to be able to structure the class, and the questions at the end of each chapter are helpful to the students. While there are some gaps (for example, not covering encryption chaining modes in the crypto chapter), I have not found anything which is just substantially incorrect.If you want to become conversant on computer security quickly, this would be where I would (and have) recommend. If you're wanting a text for an introduction to computer security class, I heartily recommend it. I have sampled other texts, and this is vastly superior in clarity, completeness, and accurate information.
