The most comprehensive guide I've seen in the 25+ years I've been sewing. When using a sewing machine, it is essential to use the appropriate needle for the fabric you're sewing. Some "discount" outlets claim a description for a needle which is not correct. The Know Your Needles book has detailed pictures which allow you to verify the correct needle is being used. The machine and hand sewing needles are in separate sections. Brilliant! I can see improvement in my work and less strain in my hands now that I'm using the proper hand sewing needle. Thank you for taking the time to detail each needle from point to blunt threading end.
This is a concise guide to sewing needles for both hand and machine sewing. It's packed with accurate and helpful information, and a nice size to keep handy in my sewing bag. I guess I bought it thinking I would learn something I don't already know about needles, but the information here is pretty basic. The photographs are good though, and it is nice to have the information well organized in a tidy format. There's not really any advice here for assembling a useful, practical collection of needles, nor for keeping them organized once they escape their packaging, two topics I would appreciate help with. All in all, I could probably find this info for free via Google, but if you like handy, little reference books, this one is fine. The one I received did not come with any actual needles as examples for the categories described.
